Whilst this might not be the start to 2021 we’d all imagined, we’d like to share some positive news from here at Joro Experiences. On 31st December, as Henry was celebrating the end of the year with a swim off the chilly Dorset coast, we received word that Joro had been awarded our B Corp Certification.

Since Joro’s inception in 2017, we have always had a tandem mission – to create our signature brand of unique experiences whilst using our business as a force for good. But lofty aspirations are one thing. We want to be measured and held accountable for the way we operate to ensure we are doing our best for the people and the planet. So last year, as the landscape of travel and the wider world changed beyond recognition, we were hard at work applying to join the B Corp movement.

What is a B Corp?
B Corp is a global movement of companies that believe business ought to be conducted as if people and place mattered. That, through their products, practices, and profits, businesses should aspire to do no harm, and benefit all. To receive certification, we have had to go through a lengthy and rigorous process of auditing and scrutiny, providing evidence of our operations that prove our commitment to socially and environmentally responsible practices. This commitment has now been legally written into Joro’s company articles, including (but certainly not limited to) our energy usage, diversity, charitable giving and corporate transparency. It is our hope that by abiding by our defining principles and selecting the best suppliers using the best practices, we can continue to design unforgettable travel experiences with a positive global impact.
We are thrilled to be joining the B Corp ranks alongside some truly illustrious and inspiring brands, including Patagonia, Innocent, Finesterre and the Intrepid Group. But the story doesn’t end here. We will be re-evaluated every 3 years, allowing us to continually push the boundaries of our social and environmental performance.

Becoming a B Corp is by far and away our proudest achievement to date and we wanted to share it with you, in the hope that you continue to support us in upholding these principles as we head into 2021 – in pursuit of a better tomorrow.
